Article on suicides in Kerala: Dr. S.S.Lal Dr.S.S. Lal, now working in a project of UN at Geneva was actively involved in student politics. He was elected as the Chairman of His Maharaja's University College Union Thiruvananthapuram under the banner of Kerala Students Union while he was a student for Bachelor of Science course. Later on became a Senate Member of the Univeristy of Kerala from Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College. Was instrumental and the founder presenter of ' Pulse' health related programme telecast over the Asianet. Dr. Lal was active in societal and charity work among the marginalised sections of the society. He was one of the founding members of the non governmental organiztion - Foundation for Integrated Research in Mental Health - FIRM and Thrani Counselling Centre - an extended arm of the counselling centre started at the General Hospital Thiruvananthapuram years back to prevent and curb suicides His address at Geneva is as under Dr. SS Lal Email drsslal@gmail.com |
